The Josh Johnson Athletic Scholarship

Our Why

Josh Johnson's athletic journey began at just five years old when he stepped onto the baseball diamond in youth leagues. He continued to participate in baseball throughout high school while also cultivating a passion for basketball, which he first discovered at the Boys and Girls Club of Kingsville.

During his middle and high school years, Josh embraced multiple sports, including track, where he competed in hurdles, high jump, and relays. By his sophomore year, he had earned a spot on the varsity teams for both basketball and football. In his junior year, he earned recognition as an All-District Receiver, All-Bay Area Receiver, and Offensive Player of the Year for HM King High School.

Despite battling complications from Crohn’s disease during his junior year, Josh exemplified perseverance, determination, and an unwavering will to succeed. He was known for his love of the game, his respect for teammates and coaches, and his strong connection to the Kingsville community. Josh's character on and off the field made him a true model of sportsmanship and leadership.

The Josh Johnson Athletic Scholarship honors students who reflect these same qualities of dedication, leadership, and excellence. It is a tribute to Josh’s legacy and a celebration of athletes who inspire others through their commitment and character.
